Robert W. Paul

Born 3 October 1869 in Highbury, London, England, United Kingdom, as Robert William Paul.
Died 28 March 1943 in London, England, United Kingdom.

R.W. Paul was a pioneer of British cinema, producing more than 70 short films from 1895 through 1910. Having had formal training as an electrician and as a maker of scientific instruments, Paul was perfectly qualified to replicate the motion picture systems of the late 19th century with fellow British pioneer Birt Acres. At first he was nothing more than a manufacturer of motion picture cameras and projections systems, but he soon began producing his own films to satisfy the demand for new entertainment product for the infant technology.
